Places Of Worship

In addition to the Church of England, from the 16th century onwards, new forms of worship developed, which rejected the established church. At first these 'non-conformist' religions were outlawed, but from the late 17th century they were tolerated more. Most villages like Tasburgh had one or two small chapels built by local people who preferred a simpler form of worship and did not want to attend the Church of England services in the parish church. Many of these buildings survive today, converted into houses.
